okay hex found the correct thread..
I will put some thought into the question, as I know its just as much as how the question(s) are asked as far as general or specific....do I need to post it here or pm?

As far as reading goes myself, I think its harder to read for yourself than for someone else, due to the nature of the ego.

Cool! Just post it here, because it gives the 'accountability' that everyone reading the thread then gets to see the results.

And feel free to make it as specific or general as you'd like. You'll do a bunch of the interpretation yourself anyway, since I don't know lots of specifics about you. (Which is a great part of the fun of this sort of experiment.)

BTW: I've a nice bottle of cyser I've dug up for my next set of readings. I hope to get through two more real soon (I was hoping for last Sunday, but that fell through) ...

On my list:
    Mediancat - General
    Hrvoje Butkovic - General
Tao of Pooh - Outcome of Radical Change (ie. Job, Residence)
    Otter - TBA

Post Mediancat's Reading ...
Okay ... I got another done ... So, Mediancat ... here goes ...

Well, to start off, there's a rune in Midhgardhr (the here and now), and that usually speaks to a current situation, or at least something in the near future. The rune is Othala (Homeland), and in this situation, it could represent where you live, either in a physical way in terms of a (hereditary) group, or potentially a more metaphysical 'place where you feel at home'. Aspects of productive interactions, group order, and freedom bode well for activities in this place.

The next place to look is a 'simple' interaction, only involving two runes, but given the physical proximity of the two, it seems that the effect of the one on the other is strong or important. It has a not-so-simple aspect as well, in that both of the runes straddle realms, which gives them dual aspects, and perhaps, nuances the interpretation a bit.

Here, we have the Isa (Ice) rune and the Elhaz (Elk/Defense) rune interacting within the realm of Svartálheimr (Creative Emotional Influences/ Money matters/ Personal Influences). The Isa rune (a double-ended rune) points directly at Elhaz, which in turn points at no other runes. Isa, here in this realm in this reversed state, can indicate ego-mania, blindness (to information/situations/opportunities), (mental) dullness, dissipation (of energies), prevented actions, and changelessness. But, there's also a fairly large portion in Hel (Hidden or suppressed instinctual desires/ Nature of automatic functions or behaviors), which could represent that some of this blindness or changelessness is perhaps due to a self-sabotaging aspect - something working in your own unconscious?

Elhaz, likewise reversed in this realm, likely indicates hidden danger, and not consumption by divine forces or loss of divine link (since Svartálheimr is a more personal realm). Elhaz, however, rests mostly in Muspellsheimer (That which vitalizes/ Active Influences from - outside/ Things tending toward activity), and the divine forces could come back into play. The influence from Isa, though, with it's personalized bent leads me to think that it's more likely that the 'hidden danger' will be something that will be an active, vitalizing force when it actually hits, and that part of the reason it's hidden is that you're being blinded toward the signs of it or forcing yourself to just not see/notice it.

Way off on it's own is another rune, Ingwaz (Ing/ Earth God/ Gestation), which rests just on the edge of Niflheimr (That which restricts/ Passive/Restrictive influences from outside/ Things tending toward dormancy). In it's reversed form, this indicates a lack of the positive forces of life-energies, and matches well with the realm. Impotence (As lack of power), scattering (of energies), movement w/o change and stasis all have that anti-activity feel to them. While this rune does not directly interact with the others, the Isa rune's other side gives it a near miss; perhaps there is some influence from Isa at work in producing this 'spinning your wheels' which keeps you from moving forward in some way?

It very well could be, since you have some other influence-runes that fell outside of the 'field', one of which is Ehwaz (Horse), the rune of transportation, teamwork, loyalty, strength, and movement. Also in the positive category here is Wunjo (Joy), which also has aspects of harmony and fellowship, as well as reward, though that comes at a price of sacrifice of something non-tangible. There are also other influences here, which, like Kenaz (Torch), in the reversed form echos what we saw in Elhaz and Ingwaz, with disease, break-up, inability, a lack of creativity, and something which makes learning harder, as does Mannaz (Man(kind)) reversed, indicating depression, mortality, blindness and self-delusion.

What I see in here is that you've the potential to get moving and be active. Things are good (overall) on the home-front, though you don't seem to be making progress elsewhere. You're spinning your wheels in the mud and while there's a winch right there to get you out, for some reason you're not noticing it. There's something coming, though and, dangerous as it may be to your well-being, it should serve to get you moving again. In what direction, I'm not sure.

In a nutshell? Get your ass in gear! Figure out what needs doing and do it, because you're being your own worst enemy and you've got plenty working in your favor. :cheeky:

And, here's the worksheet with the rune's layout and brief descriptions of what's where:

on some level, I wonder if doing the reading without telling who it is for would be helpful.

How many of us would say that Rob's looks good for themselves?

Well, argueably, there are a finite number of combinations that could be made out of 24 runes, each with up to 18 nuanced meanings that could interact with each other ... (I think it's some 5400+ since I'm not sure how to calculate for more complex interactions and meanings :confused2: )

Now, with the population we've got and the 'themes' of each rune/area ... I think similarities are -bound- to be in there. And, of course, each person brings their own interpretation of the world/ observations/ accumulated life database into recognizing the importance of meanings in the patterns.

:dontknow:

 Um ... Rob? How far away from home are you?

:cheeky:

But I am interested in feedback on it ...

Hrvoje, Pooh, and Otter, I've not forgotten about you. Maybe after I finish grading exams tonight I'll have some time to do a couple more over the weekend ...

LOL!

Hex is actually at this minute doing a reading for our son.

Our boy was terrible at camp today (suddenly, he'd been great all last week, today he did 3 things) so I made Hex read his.

I'll make sure you are next in line...

and Rob--- any feedback on yours?

nice thing is that it's so outdated, you should have little confirmation bias...

We're going to be moving shortly; if all goes well, maybe, in finding the new home, but there was nothing like this when the original reading took place.

This could easily apply to a current situation.

This applies to a lot of things -- but doesn't seem to ring true for any one specific part of my life.

The last part, yes, also rings true, particualrly with my writing career, which seems to be in permanent stall. "Getting my ass in gear" has never been one of my strengths. I usually need someone else to kick me in it.

Overall: Interesting. Some definitely seems to apply, some does not. I appreciate the effort and apologize for how long it took me to get back to you.

Rob

No problem ... And thanks for the response ...
 Just for an interesting exercise, could you put a percentage on how much 'fit' and how much didn't?

Just wondering if you think it was better than 50/50 or not ...
